1950’s Steer Horn Folk Art MCM Ashtray
I absolutely love this 1950’s steer horn folk art ashtray 🐃These were quite popular during the mid 20th century and widely used among the general population, for either cigarette or cigar smokers. This one is complete with a small steer horn tip affixed to the side as a rest for your smoking aid of choice. I truly just love the look of these pieces, and generally snatch them up whenever I see one in the wild. I like to fill mine with dried flower arrangements, as pictured, but you could fill it with air plants, whatever your heart desires—including cigarette ash—if that’s your thing!
The shape of this one is so lovely, it reminds me of a crescent moon 🌙 It’s in great vintage shape, although it’s surface is slightly less shiny and smooth as it likely would have been upon production. Note that the variation in the markings are apart of the natural coloration of the steer horn, not dirt or grime 🖤
